academic / training credentials
work experience
professional contribution
on the job application of skills and knowledge
examination results
The IACCM Certification Program is undertaken on-line and for an individual normally includes validation by your employer to confirm work performance levels. The output you receive includes a comprehensive personal report on the skill and knowledge strengths and gaps that you have relative to your peer group, and that need to be filled before moving to the next certification level. This reporting capability is unique to IACCM and involves 'benchmarking' you against other professionals at the same certification level. As a result, the personalized advice on your strengths and weaknesses gives you a comprehensive professional development plan plus representing invaluable support within your job resume / CV.
You may apply for certification at one of these four levels:
Associate (ACCM): open to anyone working in a contracts / commercial management role or directly related field who has or is undertaking relevant training and can demonstrate appropriate skills and knowledge.
Member (MCCM): will be working in contract / commercial management or sourcing and have a minimum 2 years experience in this field (or 5 years in a related field). Although experience will be limited, a member will have appropriate qualifications and will have demonstrated their potential skills through job performance and success in the appropriate IACCM on-line examination.
Certified Member (MCCM(Cert.)): a certified member is likely to have a minimum 7 years experience and be in a management or senior specialist role. In addition to demonstrating highly developed skills and knowledge, a certified member will also be required to submit a brief written transcript regarding their work experience, plus undertaking a more extensive on-line examination (multiple choice plus case study analysis). The application will be approved by a review board of senior managers / executives. Certified members are invited to volunteer as mentors for more junior members of the profession.
Fellow (FCCM): a fellow is elected by the Advisory Board and, in addition to outstanding experience and performance in their career, must demonstrate a record of contribution to the profession and its development. A fellow undertakes initial certification using the same template as a certified member and should also submit a written transcript and resume. Before appointment, a fellow is interviewed by a panel of other fellows (typically phone interview); status is then granted dependent on submission of a research paper on a mutually agreed topic within 6 months of appointment.
Members can request re-certification (to move to the next level) not less than one year after their initial certification. All members must renew their certification every two years, demonstrating that they continued to perform tasks relevant to the profession and their status within it. The examination is now mandatory for Certification Renewals.
Individual Certification Fees: Certification fees are as follows: Associate - $US75 / £60, Member (including full assessment and examination) - US$150 / £120, Certified Member (including full assessment and examination) - $US250 / £200, Fellow - $US500 / £400. Certification is only available to IACCM members. If you are currently an IACCM member you may apply here or if you are currently a non-member you may apply in conjunction with a membership application (apply here).
Certification Renewal: Your IACCM certification is good for two years then needs to be renewed. The 25 USD renewal fee is to cover processing costs. Unlike other organizations, we do not charge a large fee to maintain your certification. Renew Online Now. We do however expect that you have continued your personal and professional development.
Corporate (Group) Certification: For a group, charges are based on group size and reporting requirements. The front-end process includes development of skill and knowledge templates that are based on your job or role descriptions. On-line assessment and resulting management reports create a powerful tool that support skill analysis, gap identification, development planning and monitoring, and to support on-going development plans. At your option, this may include identification and delivery of required training by IACCM. Group certification is a proven method to raise employee morale, status and credentials at low cost and moderate time investment.
