"I enjoy using, reading, debating and being stimulated by the IACCM. I particularly enjoy the website which can then elicit a lively discussion between myself and some of my peers."
Chevron Recognizes IACCM Professional Development Program
On April 7th, 2008 at the International Association for Contract & Commercial Management (IACCM) 2008 Americas Conference in Scottsdale Arizona, Chevron Global Upstream and Gas (CGUG) presented a recognition award to the IACCM for its significant contribution to Learning and Professional Development of its Global Upstream Supply Chain Management team. Tom Crimi, Chevron Global Upstream and Gas’s Learning and Development Manager, noted that IACCM’s professional development program is structured to help Chevron companies develop a more consistent and coordinated approach to their worldwide contract management capability.
The IACCM program for CGUG is a global, internet-based approach, combining comprehensive online training with webcast events and best practices message boards to provide optimized training in today’s fast paced world. The program, which was piloted in 2005, has thus far had 250 participants and began its fifth training cycle in February 2008. The program is a four to six-month training curriculum designed to rapidly educate both new and experienced procurement and supply chain practitioners to strategic contracting concepts and best practice applications
For a company with projects and facilities around the world, often in remote locations, it is a challenge to provide best practices training materials with wide appeal to a diverse employee community. IACCM's programs have enabled Chevron participants to learn in a highly interactive global program.
"We have been delighted to work with these professionals and their management," said Tim Cummins, IACCM's CEO. "It has been a case of collaborative development from the start, with basic on-line training supplemented by expert webcasts and mentored message boards. These groups have kept us on our toes - but most exciting to me has been to see the interactions resulting in policy and process discussions at Chevron, as well as the increased sharing of knowledge across the Chevron participants in the program."
