Contracting Excellence Track Session - Value Delivery through Post-Award Contract Management

Today's business environment demands the ability to respond rapidly to change. As a result, processes through which commercial relationships are managed have become increasingly more critical to business performance. This has resulted in an increased focus on the role of contracts and their effective management throughout the relationship lifecycle.\r

Often there is little understanding of the significance of the post award contract management activities on the business relationship, and whether value delivery is ultimately successful or not. Many organizations continue to concentrate their focus and resources on closing the deal vs. managing the contract and the ongoing relationship. IACCM research indicates that it takes a well-defined, robust process in place to be successful in the post award phase of contract management. It is this background that led to the commissioning of a study on underlying 'best practice' research in the field of post award contract management.\r

The presentation will highlight key findings from the IACCM benchmarking study, and opportunities for application.
