Speaker – Purpose and Relationships help drive Innovation in an era of Servitization

We are in the era of servitization, referring to industries using their products to sell “outcome as a service” rather than a one-off sale. APX Travel Management provides business and corporate travel for New Zealanders as-a-service. Rather than a plug for APX, this is example of the full, managed service which every industry is moving toward. In this facilitated discussion session, Margot Dow will share how they work with customers to deliver a travel experience outcome and to unleash innovation – we need to listen more and be open to different ways of working.

Speaker and moderator: Margot Dow, Head of Government, APX

Panel Session – Encouraging Innovation by Design

IACCM Research on Supplier-led Innovation and Continuous Improvement noted that “a high proportion of contracts include provisions relating to these topics, yet there is a widespread sense that they are frequently ineffective.” The 2019 Global SRM Research Report from State of Flux, Harnessing and growing supplier innovation says that “Organisations should not simply wait for supplier innovation to magically appear out of thin air. They must develop a method for creating a pipeline” and work it systematically. TBC will share the research and moderate a discussion between a customer and a supplier on the question: “How can we encourage innovation by design?”

  • Speaker A – Customer (TBC)
  • Speaker B – Supplier Megan Martin Head of Public Sector at Vodafone Business

Speaker – The Role of Contract & Commercial Management – Do we have the Talent to Drive Commercial Transformation?

In Jan 2019, IACCM recently published a paper on the Direction and Role of C&CM, noting that Contract and Commercial Managers stand at a crossroad. “Many traditional tasks will erode and disappear, outsourced or automated. That does not mean an inevitable route to nowhere; new technologies elevate these roles from largely operational to increasingly strategic, from jobs that have limited influence to jobs that drive substantial business value.” We are at a crossroad, but in Dec 2019, IACCM released its latest Talent Survey which revealed that job satisfaction among those performing Contract and Commercial Management roles is declining, noting a failure to invest in its people and the absence of a career path. Bridget Clarke will share her thoughts on the research and moderate a discussion on the question: “Do we have the Talent to Drive Commercial Transformation?”

Interactive Session – Dealing with Uncertainty in an era of Servitization

IACCM recently completed work on its report into 'leading practices for post-award Contract Management', noting that “The economic value of contracts is gained or lost during the post-award phase, yet this study has confirmed that there is no established ‘best practice’ governance model to safeguard their performance.” It also noted increasing uncertainty and the need for dynamic adaptability in adjusting relationships to different situations. Rather than ‘one size fits all’ SRM, this next generation Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) session introduces the IACCM Value Compliance Uncertainty (VCU) Framework to facilitate a discussion about fit-for-purpose relationships in an era of servitization.

Speed Demo – Contract Management Automation Systems providers face-off

Working with CapGemini, IACCM developed a free online tool that enables you to specify your requirements and identify the most relevant contract automation software solutions available on the market today. It also offers vendors the chance to promote their products and potential customers the chance to evaluate their choices – and unlike other comparison tools, the service is totally fee-free and unbiased. Today, we get to see three software providers in action in a speed-demo. Contract Management Automation Systems providers will have 15 mns to pitch their solutions to you and answer your questions. Then we all get to vote.
